COVID-19 POTENTIAL IMPACT ON FORCHEM
To whom it may concern,
COVID-19 POTENTIAL IMPACT ON FORCHEM
As the coronavirus spreads rapidly from Wuhan, China, to more than sixty countries around
the globe, there is a growing concern along many value chains, that consequences of the outbreak could result in severe business disruption.
Based on an initial assessment, we would like to reassure our stakeholders that, in the short to medium term, Forchem is in robust shape to withstand the possible impact of the virus. Our raw material is sourced principally from the Nordic forest industry and not from China or Asia, nor do we rely on process materials or parts sourced from China.
Forchem’s production plant in Rauma is running as normal, with extra hygiene measures in place for all personnel. To date there has been no reported cases of the virus among our personnel, nor in the Rauma area.
The bulk of our logistics such as the Strader Ferris International customs broker service within Europe is unlikely to be affected. Our exports to Asia are already being affected by reduced vessel capacity, schedule changes, longer lead times or other disruptions at destination ports. We are also seeing extra costs and surcharges. We will advise of order-specific consequences as part of ongoing customer care.
Our thoughts remain with those people directly affected by the Coronavirus and we sincerely hope that the situation can be brought under control as soon as possible.
In case of any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your usual forchem representative.
Sincerely,
Risto Näsi
CEO
